Presenting...Terrain Paper!

Original Post
This is one of those things that would probably have been terrifically useful when I was still designing the geometry processing on my terrain engine, but that I didn't think of making until afterwards. What is Terrain Paper? If you've read de Boer's paper on geomipmaps, you've noticed that he uses 5x5 grids of circles to demonstrate how to tessellate and such. I found that this sort of diagram was quite useful and I ended up drawing about a dozen of them, in different sizes, while trying to work out different LoD schemes. These were usually done by hand, without a ruler, and pretty much a complete mess. Not to mention that drawing large grids by hand over and over sucks. So Terrain Paper is a pre-made grid for you to use. It follows the same style as de Boer's grids. However, 5x5 is far too small to do some things, so Terrain Paper provides you with a 17x17 grid on each page. This is large enough to work through LoD schemes and such, but not so large as to make working with it by hand overly time consuming. In addition, you can easily split the 17x17 grid into 4 9x9 patches for working through LoD/adjacency issues, or whatever you want. Where can Terrain Paper be found? Look no further! Feel free to mirror the PDF. However, do NOT under any circumstance remove my name from the corner. It's small, unobtrusive, and probably not even noticed half the time. It's something I'm giving away for free, at least give me a bit of respect. Oh Mighty Promit, how can we ever repay you? Well you know, GDNet has ratings for a reason [grin] [EDIT] Due to threatening request, the paper is now available in PNG format. [Edited by - Promit on July 10, 2004 9:25:01 PM]
I think you name it wrong.
