I'm in the very begining and it seems like those monsters come out of no where. I kill a monster, look around to see that there are no more, turn to the wall to pick up an item and WHACK i get hit in the back by a zombie. they come at you too silently!! this game is too hard. Anyways, what is your favourite career and specialization for this game? i think i want to concentrate on psionics and hacking
I have that game. It's managed to make me jump on several occasions. I wanted to play it a while ago but the CD is scratched up pretty bad and the copy protection doesn't recognize the CD anymore.
I would donate my copy, but I think I threw it away a couple weeks ago when cleaning out my software collection. Fun game though.
@Tyro - You couldn't find it? Does this mean you don't have it? Or, you copied it?
@Drevay - I have searched Ebay (this answer is only second to 'Google'). It's advice, but then again, it's not. It's almost like answering "Eat some food" when people say "I'm hungry". It really doesn't help.
I played the first one when it first came out. I got to the second or third floor. I stopped playing when zombies started shooting circles at me. Pretty lame.
@Subconscious - I think from here on out, anyone cleaning out a software collection should ask fellow members first...in fact...a new thread is in order.

eBay - System Shock 2
Did you look hard enough? I see 10 copies.
PC System Shock 2 turned them all up.

It's a great game. My cd is getting pretty scratched up too, but I made a backup somewhere. Hopefully the copy protection will still recognize it (as an .iso). I haven't played it in forever though. I finished the whole thing: the very end was INCREDIBLY hard and I had to cheat :(
The first time through I was an psi. Then I was an marine. I never was an engineer / hacker.

Just because it's abandonware doesn't mean it's legal to download it off the internet. Still, I won't tell if you won't.

The Underdogs are a legal site. And just because it's abandonware it doesn't mean it's illegal. In this particular case, I think the game rights are still on limbo.
TIP: See that copy for sale on EBay from "noctalis?" Which/who is in Singapore? I'm pretty sure those are counterfeit copies.
But SS2 is such an awesome game I say get it any way possible.
Also, if SS2 seems just a little too hard, you might wanna check out the readme for something cool you can do...

If you like SS2, try out the rebirth mod. It upgrades some of the models.
Anyways try looking through some bargain bins. I know the EBGames around here had a couple copies of the EA Classic SS2 version.
Too hard? Bah! If anything, games are becoming way too easy nowadays.
Unless it's harder than Wizardry 4, it's too easy.

No, you're not imagining things, there /are/ enemies appearing behind you(shouldn't be too closely, though). To enhance the atmosphere of fear and paranoia, SS2 will respawn monsters in a level.
There are variables in config files that you can change manually(no in-game settings) that'll increase/decrease this effect if you get tired of wading through zombies in a 'safe' part of the ship that you already cleared. I suggest you don't, since always having a minimum of something like 2-3 enemies(if the count for the map drops below that, it spawns another enemy) adds tension since you really aren't safe anywhere.
