I'm a huge fan of SIRDS or Magic-Eye images, but I'm even a bigger fan of interactive SIRDS. So in line with my other SIRDS work I have written two Java applets which let you interact with SIRDS in real time: AbSIRDlet lets you "draw in height" just like in Paint or any other image editor. Except this time you are creating 3d shapes not just colours. SPonglet is a simple Pong game using SIRDS so you can actually see the ball get further away as it rolls. I've also posted the source code so hopefully other people will take that and make some cool games out of it. Essentially it's just like making a sprite based game except you use height maps instead of images for sprites and then apply the SIRDS algorithum to the height map at the end of each frame. Enjoy and give me a yell if you create anything. -Lewey

I'd read about that Quake SIRDS mod a few months ago. I always meant to try it out but never did get around to reinstalling Quake. I love magic eye; however, I contribute SIRDS to the detriment of my eyes during my youth and the onset of corrective lenses. I could just be looking to blame it on something. [wink] Very interested work, though.
---Real programmers don't comment their code. It was hard enough to write, it should be hard to understand!
