I've been using max for quite a while now and have some experience as a texture artist in the industry. The problem is that I have always been concentrating on acheiving as close to realistic as possible models. I have recently come to a point where I am happy with my models. BIG problem is that they are coming close to 1/2 million polys, lol Now I want to develope my skill more towards low poly models for games. The other BIG problem is that all of the resourses on the net for making models are for high poly models. There is loads of resourses for begining game programing but hardly any for producing environments for games. Whats going on? I found all of the programing resourses useful when studying at university, thanks to those that wrote them. But why is there not as much suport for people wishing to become game artists? If anyone knows of any links to tutorials on producing game art, specificaly not cars or characters, please let me know.

Loonygames archives still has all the Paul Steed modeling tutorials online. He made character models for Quake3, so this is pretty low-poly stuff.

Another good place to see and learn things would be CGChat:

'Game Art For Teens' covers worlds and levels but not in huge detail. Might be a bit basic for you.
'Game Modeling Using Low Polygon Techniques'
I realise you asked for tutorials but if you can get these from a library...

Have been thinking about buying the 'Game Modeling Using Low Polygon Techniques' book. Has anybody read it? Read a review on amazon which wasnt very enthusiastic about it. Again I think the book may mostly be about character modeling too.

What I really want to do is build a low poly city block or just a street. Think I'll have to pull my finger out and work out the best approaches to it myself, lol
