WHY are free shell accounts so hard to get?! I've been looking for a simple free shell account that'll allow me to run a Perl IRC bot. A lot of them don't allow bots, but some do. All the shell accounts I've looked at that allow them make you jump through hoops to get signed up. "Register with two of our sponsors with correct information and forward the response e-mails to us." "Please give your first name, last name, full address, phone number, two major credit card numbers, height, weight, and nose length." One of them expects you to join an IRC channel (which requires signing up with their NickServ which requires a CONFIRMATION EMAIL...) and then being invited by someone. However, you cannot idle in the channel and you can't ask for an invite or anything even close to an invite, and if you auto-rejoin you're auto-banned. So if anyone knows of some open, non-intrusive, no-hassle free shell accounts that'll let me run my Perl IRC bot then PLEASE let me know. Minimum requirements: IRC access, Perl, 1 background process It's also be nice if it supported a BNC and telnet access, but those aren't absolutely necessary.
