Jeff I have tried to get your tut 1 to compile know under both 98 and nt4 with no luck. below is the error message from vis c++ 6. I have tried to mail you but not sure if they are getting through (had a few problems recently with the isp). eworks\opengl\lesson1\main.c(204) : error C2143: syntax error : missing '';'' before ''type'' c:\courseworks\opengl\lesson1\main.c(233) : error C2065: ''pfd'' : undeclared identifier c:\courseworks\opengl\lesson1\main.c(233) : warning C4133: ''function'' : incompatible types - from ''int *'' to ''const struct tagPIXELFORMATDESCRIPTOR *'' c:\courseworks\opengl\lesson1\main.c(240) : warning C4133: ''function'' : incompatible types - from ''int *'' to ''const struct tagPIXELFORMATDESCRIPTOR *'' c:\courseworks\opengl\lesson1\main.c(276) : error C2143: syntax error : missing ''{'' before ''__stdcall'' c:\courseworks\opengl\lesson1\main.c(280) : warning C4142: benign redefinition of type Error executing cl.exe. I have followed the tutorial checked it, downloaded the current files from the site, checked them and still cant get any further. Are there some settings in the project that i need to change or something like that. I can use opengl under a console application with no problems, so I am assuming that the problems lie with the windows setup. I have tried ron fosners simple windows program and it compiles fine ( from yellow book), so I dont know what to try next. I have been at this know for a week so any help would be greatfully excepted. yours in desperation popeye

Grab a copy of Visual C++ 6.0 and compile as a win32 app, not a console app.

I am using Visual c++ 6 and it is being compiled as a windows app
and all the librarys are linked. The problem still remains the same.

try renaming main.c to main.cpp
it might be trying to compile as a straight c program

Thanks, never used C++ so never thought about it.
