Hello all, I'm trying to make a DirectX application with Visual c++ 6.0, i've made a win32 window and then I try to make a directdraw object like this: LPDIRECTDRAW lpdd; DirectDrawCreate(NULL,&lpdd,NULL); My code compiles, but when it tries to link I get these error messages: 'lpdd' : undeclared identifier left of '->Release' must point to class/struct/union I think this is because the compiler can't find ddraw.lib. I also know that this is a common question, but i tried everyting i could find in those other treads like setting the compiler directories to c:\DXSDK\Lib and c:\DXSDK\include and they are both on top of the list, i made a win32 application and not a console, in the project settings i typed dxguid.lib and ddraw.lib in the object library modules section. Is there maybe something i missed?

This problem seems to be a bit special. Your compiler didn't write error when it was compiling
LPDIRECTDRAW lpdd;
DirectDrawCreate(NULL,&lpdd,NULL);

but only when it was compiling lpdd->Release(); ?!
Did you include ?

Maybe you made mistake in name of indentificator or you didn't write RELEASE correctly (probably not). If this don't help, can you post a part of your souce code here?

This is all the DirectX source code i made for the app , the other code is just a simple win32 window and it works without those three lines of DirectX.
I made the Directdraw object in the body of a function just before the application main loop and the call to release also, but just after the mainloop.
