Ok, I've been trying to figure out how to do a back buffer. I was wondering if anybody knows of any good tutorials? I've been doing some research and I'm sure I'm just not looking up the right thing.

Windows GDI. I'm trying to set it up so that I can have a main menu screen and when they choose a certain option have it clear the screen and draw the game.

Use CreateCompatibleDC() to create a device context that is compatible with the DC of your main window. Do all your drawing onto this DC instead of your window's DC, then when the frame is drawn, BitBlt() the contents of the secondary DC onto the window. Information on all these functions is available on MSDN.
