How many of you have a ball mouse? I'm thinking about getting one for my laptop (because there's not as much space to move a mouse around) and wanted to know if it's easy to use. would you recommned it?

It's called a track ball. I don't have one, but I've used them before. They sure do save space, but they're hard to get used to. I hear a lot of people like them though. Dunno about playing games with them.

I have an old Laptop (150 MHz Dell), which actually has a trackball instead of a touchpad, I wonder why you can't get that anymore. I guess the touchpad is considered better, or maybe because it's hard to make it ergonomic on the laptop.

If you're talking about a trackball I have one and it works great. I got one for the same reason as you, I didn't have much space to put a mouse. The first ten minutes with it were kind of akward but I quickly got used to it. After the first day I was a master and there was no turning back. I would recommend it. If you're interested in games you can play them just as easily with a trackball as with a regular mouse. I've often had that argument with friends and then wiped the floor with them when we actually played.

Edit: I have the thumb kind

Trackballs are great. I didn't like the thumb kind but the symmetrical ball in the middle one works great. I can even play Unreal Tournament relatively effectively with it.

yes, sorry I meant a trackball. Sounds great. I don't think I'll really play much games on this laptop anyway. It's 2x better than my computer but I want to use that power to some better use. :D
