I am looking for any C++ programmers with a desire for creating games and real-time graphics applications. I am working on creating a game engine for a learning experience. Experience with OpenGL or Direct3D required. If you have experience with 3D Studio Maxs SDK it would greatly be appreciated. www.vision-software.org sourceforge.net/projects/darkcloud (check CVS for current state of code)

Howdy,

Just a couple of comments after browsing your CVS repository.

I noticed that you're using include paths such as -

#include "../../../Engine/inc/DarkCloudRoot.hpp"

Relative paths like these really suck when you come to reorganising your project. If you add your project root ($SolutionDir is a good one) path to the include search path then you can refer to the file as-

#include "Engine/inc/DarkCloudRoot.hpp"

I always organise my projects in this fashion...

root
---include
---subsystemA
-file.h
---subsystemB
-file.h
---src
---subsystemA
-file.cpp
---lib

Etc.

For me, this adds to the flexibility of my project tree - I can add a single include search path to my project (with your set up you'd have to add many)
eg:
#include "engine/root.h"
#include "graphics/irenderer.h"
#include "graphics/gl/renderer.h"

With your setup, you'd have major problems if you wanted to distribute a cut-down precompiled version of your library. If you compile it all as a lib, you could distribute the lib and the include directory only, saving on a whole load of hassle to yourself and other users.

Generally though, the project looks decent so far - I hope it goes well and I'll pop back from time to time to see how you're doing :)
