Hey guys. I've a quick question for all/any of you. I'm at college, and need some form of transportation. I've been thinking about either: 1) Buying some 1970s used moped 2) Rigging my bike with an engine, and ta-da, moped! 3) Get some real transportation, jackass Which choice should I go with? (Note: I'm thinking moped because it's cheap and I'll get 100-150 miles per gallon (gas is expensive))

How large is your campus? I've never seen anyone zip by me on a mopeg, and I imagine the only type who ever would is one of those tiny little engineering kids always late to class.

But seriously, buy a longboard. The only way to move fast.

Hah, I've had a funny incident with a longboard...Anyway, the campus isn't *too* big (UC Irvine); but I'm also thinking about using it to drive around town/go to beach/ride home (if I want to ride it for a few hours).

Use a powered bike.. it'll be more efficient. If you do electric, you can recharge it for free.. plus when you pedal or go down hill, it can charge itself. As an added bonus, it's not gay. Nothing against mopeds.. their just a bit funny.

Er, the only difference between a moped and an electric bike is that a moped uses a low-power gas engine rather than an electric motor.

Though I'd definately go with an electric bike, too. Just not sure where I can find one.

Edit: Ah, misunderstanding. The older mopeds (also bikes that are rigged to be mopeds) look like electric bikes, not like this:

The ones I am talking about look like this. Or even more bike-like.

*shudder*

That would be the most vile image, me riding it. It looks like some kind of Barbie vespa. =)

MikeMJH,

I just noticed you're from Glendora. I live in Pasadena. I used to live in Glendora. Anyways, in these areas, I ALWAYS see those pocket bikes EVERYWHERE. Haven't you seen em? Little mini motorcycles that are like 49cc. Pretty much the link I poseted has em. You would be pimpin in one of those [cool]

That's cool. I can't say I've seen any of them in Glendora. All I see are rich punks driving Mercedes that their parents bought them [wink].

Not sure if the campus police would like me riding one of those, though. I wonder if any cops would actually stop me...hmmm. (Note, you need a license for that kind of thing in California, I believe. Pretty gay, I know).
