hello, what frame rate you get in your machine when using DelphiX with 640X480X8 and Novysnc,using bltfast command with a 640x400 surface.... thanks to all your replies

I do just that in my minigolf game. Except it''s a 640x480 all the way up to a 1024x768 BLTFAST with layers and other such stuff. Our users got anywhere from 15FPS (on p266) 30FPS (Celeron 300) or 60FPS (p3-450s)

Try the demo on your machine @ www.no2games.com

why i asked the question is how faster using jedi header files than Delphix.if my code is not wrong,i get 1232 fps on my celeron 366 machine when i use only one bltfast command with 640x480 size of surface on 640X480X8 mode...

thanks to your reply....

Oh... Those surfaces above ar 15/16 bit You should get a fast speed on any 8 bit blit regardless of what you are using.

i apoligize for numbers..Cause the frame rate is 463 but what i done is ;

first i using color blit function to erase my buffer and then,
using 640X480 offscreen surface to copy my buffer with bltfast command and the frame rate is about 460.. in 8 bit mode,in 16 bit mode the frame rate is 162...

and i want to ask you that how you calculate the frame rate..
Cause i use a counter in the application.onidle event ,then calculating the counter at a second ,this technique is true? or
what true one is?

Here is how I calculate the frame rate in my engine.

{ Calculate framerate. }
Inc(FFrameCount);
CurrTime := GetTickCount;
if CurrTime - FFrameTime > 1000 then
begin
FFrameRate := (FFrameCount * 1000) div CurrTime;
FFrameTime := CurrTime;
FFrameCount := 0;
end;

This code is executed each time the surface is flipped (in full-screen mode) or blitted (in windowed mode). On my Celeron 500/GeForce 256 SDR combination I get approximately 500fps in 32-bit windowed mode. Because this frame rate is faster than the monitor refresh rate, it is pointless. So I added code to cap the frame rate at a user-specified value (currently 60fps).

I cannot remember the last time I used an 8-bit mode.

oooh,it is perfect frame rate in 32 bit mode, what functions you applied to get that frame...

That was simply blitting a 640x480 32bit background image to the back buffer, and then blitting or flipping that back buffer to the primary surface. It is 32bit because that is what my desktop is set to use.
