Driving Music Suggestions

In about a week I'm going on vacation to South Carolina and.. I've got a 12 hour drive ahead of me. What I'm looking for is some good driving music (techno-ish?) OR some good 70's rock / pop. The purpose of the 70's rock is to entertain me as I love 70's rock. The driving music is to keep me awake and to get me zoned out so the time passes faster (Heh, me zoning out won't affect my driving... it's the same deal as when I get psyched for hockey or a good video game and can do it all purely by reflex.. no thinking required. Well, you get the point.. ). So far i've got a tiny bit of Elton John, some peter frampton.. stairway to heaven and immigrant song (Led Zeppelin).. one moody blues album and a few others of their songs.. Any suggestions?

Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and The Who. Great driving songs that you can sing along to. Trust me on this.

Nine Inch Nails, Filter, Pigface, Tool, and Dark Tranquillity are all great driving music.

Incidentaly, that's the first answer I was looking for.. I'm more looking for song titles. "The Beatles" is pretty general.. I have four songs of theirs on my playlist now for the trip... "the who".. my generation. I was hoping for some specific songs that are good for this purpose. "Marriage of Figaro" and certain parts of "Requiem" will rouse me pretty well.. but the "The Magic Flute" is going to kill me.. lol..

This is probably my favourite driving song. Even when I'm not driving and I hear it, I get the urge to drive.

The Cardigans - My favourite game

That will make the journey fly by, mainly because you'll drive faster. So maybe not such a good idea. I'd go with some Doors, but also with some more modern stuff. Maybe get a whole mix of genres. You want some variation to keep you awake.

I'd recommend Godskitchen: Journeys. It's a three-disk trance set that's still my all-time favorite musical purchase ever.

As for something heavier (although not 70s rock), I was listening to Stabbing Westward's "Darkest Days" on the way home. Plus I managed to pull off a creditable drift in my MR2, which handles like a gokart in the dry but in the wet is more akin to trying to balance a ball bearing on another ball bearing. I tell you this because I know you care. :)

My camry is heavy as hell, so I don't have much trouble with sliding.. though in the rain I can slide around corners if I do it right. No such luck with this trip though.. i'll be driving with my aunt and her hyundai elantra w/ automatic transmission. I don't care if the trip is 12 hours.. I still want to drive manual.
