Good evening fellow developers,
I''m currently working on a 2D shooter. I''m at a point now where I need to determine what kind of collision I''ll use, if I know any type at all. Since all the entities (including backgrounds) have a Z value, I was going to draw each layer in a DDraw surface and check for collision there. But doing that I think would take away from the power of the engine. I feel it would be best to have a great number of layers (Z values), and that intails another way of drawing the entities. So is there any way to set up collision detection without having to search each element in an array/linked list/whatever?
