I would like to know if there are any programmers/artists out there who have recently been bitten by the game-development bug and are keen to get working.
I am a c++ programmer of two years experience - before that turbo pascal and good ol QBASIC.
I am in the process of building a basic (for now) OpenGL 3D engine and modelling tools. I have a mind steaming with ideas and hopefully will have the code soon to implement them.
I am not looking for full time workers to slave away for hours - (unless you really are that keen) I am a varsity student with work restrictions and studying to keep up with, so I am looking for relaxed people with the hope of one day doing something cool, but under no desperate need to get something out onto the market next week. Just internet friends who can contribute code, textures and other game related media into the project and help create something new and exciting.
I don''t like the idea of using existing game engines and would rather build something from scratch - for educational value and learning experience. But this of course is a slow route.
I won''t lie - I''m not a 3D guru of any kind and am still learning through coding.
I have 2 other guys helping out with textures and coding already.
I''m looking for people with solid knowledge of Directinput, Directplay and stuff like that (I''m not too great with DirectX)
too help with writing wrapper classes for that kind of thing.
Also, some thinkers for AI stuff. I really like the idea of a big virtual war going on in the vein of Falcon 4''s dynamic campaign or just command and conquer sort of ideas.
Mail me at icorelabs@programmer.net if you''re interested
Thanks alot
Chris
