Should the rating threshold affect forum view too? I think so. It's somewhat pointless to see a thread started by someone whose posts you can't see anyway.

I agree, it's a bit annoying to open a thread just to see that you can't even see the OP's post. Granted, it's usually not worth seeing, but it's still a bit of a nuisance nevertheless.

Agreed.

I think that either the threads should be hidden, or the first post in a thread should be exempt from the rating-threshold. The first is likely preferable, though the second is easier to do.

I vote for the second, but the topic listing should put an icon next to the thread (or write its creator's name in a different color) to let you know he's below your threshold. So you can choose to ignore the thread if you want.

I vote for the former. If the first post of the thread is hidden, it's nonsensical to display the rest of the thread anyway.

Yeah.... originally, I figured that even a thread started by someone not worth listening to could engender worthwhile posts.... but thinking back, I can't remember a single example where this would be the case. I definitely think this would be a good idea.

Not that I get to filter posts for myself, being a mod. *grumble grumble*

Perhaps a user option would be the best approach, then.

You can't filter anybody out? Awww, that sucks. *Pats Sneftel on the back in a sympathetic way*

As long as we have a rating threshold which hides users below a specified rating, we should also have a customizable ignore list so that posts/threads by specified users can be hidden too.

Sounds reasonable. Perhaps, to complement that, a 'whitelist' of users who are below your threshold but you still want to read?
