about a week ago my VS.net 2003 suddenly caught a deadly problem of exiting completely without asking whenever I press the shift key. who's met the same problem and how to solve it? thanks.

I had something similar - though it ended up being my Windows key on the keyboard was physically stuck down. ;-)
Check if this only happens during a particular project - if you open up a new one does it still happen? If it doesn't clear out the temporary files for that project - anything generated by VS from your project file.
