Lets see how l33t I am. [grin] What kernel are you using? I'm using the nearly latest and l33test 2.6.9-rc3-bk4.

2.4.2-
I can't remember the last digit and I'm not about to boot it now.
I have a 2.6.some installation, but I can't get the bloody mouse to work. Which is just retarded.
You aren't as leet as I am. I'm using the untested 2 days old patch. I also download each snapshot that is dividable by 4, so the next snapshot I'm gonna download is 2.6.9-rc3-bk8. How leet I am.... [smile]

I haven't really booted my Linux partition in a while...
I do a daily emerge-webrsync with my Gentoo. Usually when I'm bored. I'm also searching for a GOOD IDE for Linux, but no luck.

2.6.8-gentoo-r3
Near. But not as leet.
coLinux: 2.6.7-co-0.62.
Real Linux: 2.6.8-gentoo-r3.
I quit keeping up with kernels a while ago. It was too much hassle (recompile, reboot, hope it works) for too little gain. Now I just use the occaisional update to gentoo-dev-sources.

Quote:Eclipse is the best I've seen (with the CDTs if you want C/C++), but it's still a far cry from Visual C++ 2005. For Java, it's wonderful, however; pretty much on par with Visual C#.

I'm talking about C++.
brw, upgrading the kernel is as much as downloading it, patching it and recompiling it:
# cd /usr/src/linux
# bunzip patch-***
# patch -p1 < patch-***
# genkernel all
wait wait wait
# mv -f /boot/kernel-*** /boot/kernel-2.6.9-rc3
I change the configuration only with each major release, not a patch.

Scratch that, 2.6.8-gentoo-r6 is done compiling. [smile]
2.6.8-rc6 doesn't exist. 2.6.9-rc3-bk6 is the latest... [smile]
Noone is as leet as me... No one.
I'm now going to do a full emerge on Gentoo and upgrade everything to ~x86, just to spite you. You might have a bleeding edge kernel, but I'm going to have a bleeding edge EVERYTHING.
By the way, I could install your kernel in about 30 mins if I really wanted to. But I'd rather run mm, gentoo, aa, or gaming anyway. vanilla kernel isn't actually that interesting.

Did you notice the "gentoo" part in it? It's the rc6 release from gentoo, not the "official" one. Ignorance at it's best, and you call yourself "leet"...
I'm on 2.6.8-x86_64
P.S. Get a life.

Huh? 2.6.8-gentoo? Is this the one you get with emerging?

I've a stage1 Gentoo installation with kick ass gcc optimizations. [smile]
I have the 3.0.0alpha-über-l33t-private-distro-rc3k-9x-funky00d!

I just installed Linux on a machine today and had the same problem. Was it a USB mouse? I found the going into the BIOS and turning on "USB Legacy Support" and disabling lapic and apic (nolapic, noapic) in the kernel parameters got it working.
