I'm a Computer Graphics Technology Student at Purdue University and loving it. The program is taught from an Information Engineering perspective (makes sense since Purdue is a big engineering school) and you spend alot of time on studying the visual display of quantitative information, practices on page layout and font usage, adhering to ISO standards in contruction plans and layouts, the fundamentals of animation, webpage design and construction, and raster imaging all within your first two years in the CGT program become you go into one of the specialities: Construction Graphics, Interactive Multimedia, CAD, or Computer Animation.
