Alright, the stupid Backspace going "Back' in IE is pissing me off, it's caused to lose some time consuming work, is there anway to disable it? After all, I find it to only cause headaches.

Huh?
Just don't press backspace!
Backspace always goes back in IE and up a level in Explorer...

I don't try and push it, but some times(such as when I'm typing things like posts), I'll go to a new paragraph, and accidentally hit Tab, then hit Backspace. It's just a horrible habit, but I never really use the Backspace as Back(Mouse Gestures instead), so just to be on the safe side shouldn't there be a way to disable it?

How about a way to make mouse4/5 not navigate in IE? I know it is possible to use an old version of intellipoint software to do this (the versions that allow per-app bindings), but then other programs don't detect mouse 5 when IE has focus.

Basically, I use mouse5 to activate push-to-talk, and I'd like to be able to talk while in IE without IE doing anything =-/

Even in Firefox, backspace goes back.

It's a fairly standard Windows thing. I've been checking around reg hacking sites to see how you might be able to change to shortcut keys for explorer, but haven't been able to find out anything.

Here's an idea -- don't do anything important in an editor which doesn't feature save functionality. (Read: Compose in notepad instead of IE)

That's not the point. You compose a new post, hit tab and backspace and everything is gone. You don't lose anything important, but it is annoying.

Hitting "Next" in IE works for me...

Which is exactly why I got into a habit of writing meaningful posts in notepad.

P.S. It doesn't go away in MY IE. Maybe yours just sucks.

It doesn't go away in Mozilla. [grin][razz]

I kind of have something against using a text editor that can't even properly display the simplest file format in the known universe.
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other

And wondering which one I should use. It of course doesn't matter, because all the linked pages are equally unreadable.
