Go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp and download the JRE.
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other

Okay I searched and couldn't find it. Where is this allged page that says "this is a special java plug-in completely seperate from the JRE. Download this and not the JRE as the plugin managing sites have been mistakenly telling you to do. kill yourself." ????WHERE!

If you were my dog I would bite your ear. I said I've already installed the jre, have already troubleshooted by installing earlier versions, in fact the mozilla site says install 5.0! It works, but it doesn't !!!! The Java is working just fine in ie, but NOT IN FIREFOX!>_< I thin kI know what JRE is!?!

Did you reinstall the JRE *after* you nistalled Firefox? Because you have to, so that it will register with Firefox.

Here's a stupidly obvious question: Did you restart your browser?

You deserve a medal. Finally, someone has actually said the word applet in one of my many posts asking for help with getting applets to run, two of which are in the Java forum, and one of which is this which no one responded to (I even had source listings) and an example of a Java-applet-needed website, GRRRRRR. Yes!!! Any page I want to view in firefox, NOW after I've installed Java again, will not let me view the applet!. Even after I follow the plugin instructions (there's a little icon you click in place of the applet that leads to a Netscape site devoted to find what plugin you need. But lo and behold it leads me to sun's java site where you download Java FRom!?? I think I have Java!!!! >>_<<
