Dave and Kevin got a RoboSapien to take to XGDX. Kevin didn't have room to get him back to FL, so we're keeping him here. For $70 USD (at Costco), this is a fun guy! He dances, picks stuff up, walks and talks. We played with him for about an hour last night, and I'm sure the kids will want to get him out again when they get home from school. He should work great as a bribe to get homework done! I hope!

You can tear his head off and replace it with a PocketPC to make it run faster, better, more awesomely.

I saw one at Best Buy the other day. Looks cool, but I don't want to drop $70 on it right now.

You can probably do the same with a Palm Pilot or a wireless receiver linked through wifi to your laptop.

I for one welcome our new HPC-controlled overlords.

Wow, they've been available over here for a good 3 months now, my GF used to work at Gadget Shop which now have the limited edition silver versions...

I played with them for a while, but they got very boring very quickly...until the new HPC-controlled overlords come into play anyway!

I don't have to force my kids to do homework. They have Dave's giant brains. They would rather take tests than have a day off school.
They are NUTS. But, they're smarties. All of them have skipped a grade, and the 5-year-old is doing 4 digit addition in his head, so it's all good!

We actually saw the RoboSapien for the first time in England when we were there for ECTS and EGN. He was a great attention getter at the conferences!

They *gasp* LIKE school. No smart person likes school. Come on. I'm teh smartest, I don't do anything at school (means last time I did homework was 2+ years ago), yet I'm already two years in University.

Sadly enough, that is all too often true. This is probably not the place for me to get started on how American public schools (and possibly other countries. . .) are forcing our brightest students into lackluster and mediocre performance.

Then, there's the whole discussion of what other options there are and how to fix the problem. . .

Yuo hush there, poppet! ;) They're still young, most kids don't realize that school is horribly sucky and repetitive until year 3 or 4 (when they're still doing the same stuff they did in year 2, only a little more so).

Obviously by then they'll have discovered something more cool than school (like moderating gamedev.net, for instance ;)
