I've spent the last day or so looking at XUL ( Mozdev a bit and I'm not really sure what to make of it. It seems like a great idea in theory, like, making applications available over the internet not just pages but I'm not sure how flexible it is. Is it possible to access a database from XUL? I presume you can though some of the scripting languages but I don't think it's possible in java. And will .net ever be a valid script (compiled script)? So what do you guys think of XUL, it's capabilities and future?

Have you checked the URL of the XML namespace for XUL?

Xul is the most bloated framework since java swing 6 years ago and the situation gets worse since there is no distributable runtime. You must have a new browser installation for each different application.

XUL's just a language for expressing user interfaces. It's powerless without things like XBL and &#106avascript to back it up.
