Quote:It's bad enough that these MMO-Kiddies have to come and spam/cross-post the forums.. but now bashing the site talking about "people who didn't know what they were talking about" when the guy admits he knows absolutely nothing and is just sitting back running the show.
The more I thought about it, I came to the question of "Should I make my own game?" I then searched the net for info on doing this sort of thing. After that I started doing a design document and also went on the Gamedev.net forums searching for some help. I was blasted with spam and hating people who didn't know what they were talking about.

Anybody else see the interview with this guy ripping up GDNet?

Check out this MMO kiddie. Some guy that thinks just because he's played a few MMO games that he can now make one.. without programming knowledge, etc. I don't even know how the guy got an interview, as they don't have anything to show at all really.
i wonder if the creator of Stargate SG-1 will be sending him a cease-and-desist letter? because obviously it's a rip-off.

The concept art and models look really nice. The screenshots look ... eh.
At least he's getting somewhere though.
I've seen many MMO Kiddies get this far, within a month or two all his 'free labor' will be gone once they realize he doesn't do anything.

Point taken.
Why the hell they did an interview on this guy? He played 2 games, and suddenly he decided to make his own, and that's supposed to mean something?
I mean, all I see is some pretty good concept art and models, none of which is his, I assume. Oh, and 2 in-game screenshots: One parallax mapping demo, and the worst grass rendering ever(over one million triangles for this?)

You forgot to mention the 30fps on an FX5700 with that horrid grass :)
I mean I couldn't care less that they interviewed the guy, just a little pissed at him slamming GDNet.

Jon: The Anurid System Lords are a bunch of Anurid rulers that make their followers believe they are gods due to the technology they have. They show no mercy or compassion. They never have enough power and constantly take over weak civilizations and enslave them. The System Lord named Anubis has started attacking protected planets from an agreement that was made with the Retu. Anubis supposedly has found the lost city of Atlantis and has gained ancient technology. You are able to defeat them, but when one falls, another takes over that fallen ruler's possessions.
Yeah I remember that movie. It was called Chronicles of Riddick.

To be fair, it's possible to have an "MMORPG" with small teams and such(I thought Eternal Lands did a pretty good job), but holding any real semblance of a professional game (read: one that people would actually pay for) requires a hell of a lot more.
I half agree with you.
The difference is that this guy is sitting around begging other people to do all the work. He isn't learning how to code, graphics APIs, networking.. and probably doesn't even have the hardware. He claims to have an 'idea' (we all know how much those are worth), and he wants to sit back and direct others to do free work.
Whereas Raduprv that built Eternal Lands was already a great and experienced coder, had a vision and knew HE could do it.. not beg people to do the work for him. Sure he had a team and worked with others, but I have ZERO doubt in my mind that he could have built it himself. **I could be mistaken here, but I believe that he did build it himself (not including artwork obviously) and added people to the team at a later date.
I had a quick check on his post history. He's only ever posted in Help Wanted and Game Design.
His first few posts in Game Design are the typical "Hay guys I'm a complete n00b and I want to make a MMORPG who wants to write it for me" type affairs. The flames were fairly light considering, and many of the comments were constructive advice.
Most the rest of his posts are him spamming Help Wanted looking for people to do stuff for him, as far as I can tell. Again, I've not seen any particularly harsh flames, although I've not read every single one.
Maybe he just has a persecution complex.

Oh that poor, pitiful website. Not only are they victims of their own horrible design, they're forced to interview random internet kids who have MMORPG ideas and a few pictures.
I can easily churn out a handful of concept art and call myself a serious MMORPG developer, too. In fact, everyone here can. Who does this kid think he is? More importantly, who does this website think he is?

His interview is also featured at mmorpg.com which is how I first found it. Which is why I was angry, because there are A LOT of people that visit that site.

I don't see what he's so pissed about.
My guess is that he was just angry because he didn't want to hear what people were saying. I think he only wanted to hear posts of "Awesome it will be the best you can do it in a month!" and "Your system is the greatest!".

Yeah, I guess when he says everyone were "a bunch of haters and noobs" he means "Really smart, capable programmers who wouldn't program my whole game for me for free."
Oh well...
