Who we are We are a small group of 4 members who are creating a small game. The team consists of a writer, a musician, and two programmers. About the project Our project is a small 3D action RPG based on an original story currently being written. It is currently in the design phase. We are performing a top-down design of the system. The game is being written for Windows using C++ and DirectInput. It is a closed-source project and will be written exclusively for Windows. Who you are You are a college educated C++ programmer with strong Object Oriented design skills. You understand the importance of design. You may or may not have OpenGL and DirectX programming experience but you are willing to learn those two as well as Windows programming. What you will do You'll aid in the design of the game system before we jump into the implementation. You'll have a large influence on the way the game is designed and implemented. Contact me at gameproject (at) optonline.net if you are interested and qualified. Feel free to ask questions within this thread.

What is a small RPG? It usually spins out of control pretty quickly in my experience.

A small RPG is one such that, when it is designed properly, it can be extended easily, but will start off with a limited set of characters and monsters but will have complete features. It's definitely not a MORPG and it's not an engine. I don't plan to make the next bytecode compiler.

The game is a 3rd person perspective action game. The main character, an Elf, is caught in a mission to save the world from an enemy so old, he has become legend and myth. The story has a strong foundation; our two writers are both ivy league graduates, one of whom has a degree in music composition, as is one of the programmers. The other programmer hails from Poland.

The emphasis for this game will be on strong story integration, seamless realistic animation, and realistic physics and damage schemes. We will have projectile weapons such as arrows that will need to be modeled and would like to simulate some level of rag doll physics.

I would like to find someone who has a college degree so that we have the same basic foundation for our ideas. Experience with C++ is crucial, but OpenGL and DirectX experience is not necessary. Just be willing to learn these libraries. Finally. this person should also be able to work in a team and should be willing to stick to a plan.

Let me know if you are qualified and interested. I'll also answer any questions you may have.
