What kind of graphics card do you own ?

RegComs are available on all nvidia geforce2 cards and up. If you got a card that should support regcoms update your drivers. With an ATI card or something older than gf2 you are out of luck, unless you want to try a software opengl implementation like mesagl.

Actually they are available from the Geforce256 (ie. the GF1) on upwards. The entire Geforce family supports them, although the GF1+2 only with two general combiners (the GF3 and up have 8).

Mesa doesn't support register combiners. That really sucks if you want to test your GF3/GF4 code path for compatibility, especially if you own a card without regcom support (ATI). Our team implemented the full NV_register_combiner and NV_texture_shader extension series for Mesa, and we even submitted them to the Mesa development team so that everybody could use them. But they replied with something along the line of "regcoms are obsolete, fragment shaders rule, no interest, KTHXBYE". Talking about missing the point... Okay.

Thanks, should have checked before posting.

Isn't the ATI_Fragment_shader extension something like the equivalent for NV_Register_Combiners? Maybe you could use that instead.

As he's just trying to run a demo I guess that won't be an option either.

Oops, I didn't even read that he's trying to run an app. I thought he wanted to develop one using RC. Sorry.
