Greetings Does anyone know where I can find some DirectX 9.0 demos like the OGL ones on NeHe's Mini Demo contest? I found those useful when expeirementing with openGL and I'd like to see a few for DirectX 9.0. I use C++. Thanks

theres a couple of demos that come with the sdk. they're in the directory the sdk is installed in. they're pretty good with comments in the code

The DirectX 9 SDK I got has about 30 demos in it. I got it from a book and I am not sure if it is the exact same one that Microsoft has on there site. You might try looking into them. I will see about getting the codes and sending them to you.

Those aren't really what I'm looking for. In the Demo's Im reffering too, they are basicly movies that are around a minute long; demonstrating pimp-ed effects.

those are probably the standard demos that come with the sdk
i'm just starting out myself too. in the sample code folder theres a sub folder called tutorials. start there :)
the first one teaches you how to create the device, the next one teaches you how to use vertexes, then matrixes, then lights textures and meshes.

start from the first one because they build off each other.

I am following tutorials but It is still nice to see some sample code of incredibly cool effects.

I am uploading a demo game to my server. (I am on dial-up so it will be a few minutes) I can then give you the source if you want.

BTW check under the DirectX 9 Browser under Misc, Find the game Donuts Revenge 4, Also whe you stat the game press up on the keyboard or it will close the game. If you do not have that then we do not have the same version.

I think waht you looking for is demos from the demoscene. Just type in "demoscene" in google, and you will find some sites that make the demos from paties available for downloading.
I recommend www.scene.org, look for the files section. What you are looking for is demos, 64k intros and maybe 4k intros.

www.northerndragons.ca has some very cool demos, many of which are 4k.

Of course I could be biased since I worked on some of them...

One of these days I want to do some tutorials covering some of those effects. I'm not sure how many people would be interested in them though.

Those are what I want! However, I looked at those, but they don't seem to be open source; something that I need. Any open source ones?
