hey friends, some of you know that I've been trying to figure out the feature set for a Gaming Network Interface Card (Network accelerator). If you don't mind, please post our website address around, and have people fill out our survey to see what's most important. http://www.bigfootnetworks.com Thanks, Harlan

what kind of accellerator? For LAN? I never had problems playing games on a TCP/IP LAN (6 to 10 people), even with a crappy hub.

There just isn't much specific needs.

Yes, you could do things like UDP and TCP checksumming, and perhaps link-level re-transmits, but that would not really change the CPU load or latency as experienced by the player. The CPU usage of a network card (with DMA) is so low that it doesn't matter. The weakest link is the transmission through the Internet; the link between your computer and your DSL modem just doesn't play into this equation. It can be assumed to be better than the link between your DSL modem and your ISP, by a factor of 100 or so...
