I'm trying to use AVIFile in the platform sdk to access frames in an AVI file. It seems to work with some AVI compression formats but not DV Video. I'm pretty sure i have the codec for it because it works in pinnacle studios. I know that AVIFile should use the codecs install on the PC and it searches the pinnacle shared folder. Any ideas?

I'm not familiar with AviFile, so I could be completely wrong, but it might help you. Windows has two ways to play video, one is VfW (Video for windows). The second is DirectShow. Each of the techniques requires a different type of codec, make sure you have one for both to be able to interchange them. Windows Media Player uses DirectShow to display avis. Most video editing software uses VfW (because it also allows write of avi files).

@ Gyrbo:
DirectShow also supports AVI File writing.
The graph to create an AVI would look like this:

File --> Avi Demuxer --> Avi Muxer -> File Writer

@ OP:
sorry, but I can't help you
