I've pretty much gotten sick of listening to SMB3 and Zelda remixes while I code all the time. Does anyone else have some song suggestions? I tend to prefer rhythmic beats with no lyrics, but I can concentrate equally well with or without lyrics. Anything would be welcome. If I have to hear doot-doot-doot, do-doot-doot! (SMB) one more time, my head will a splode.

Not sure what to suggest. Haven't seriously coded in a long time. When I do, I don't use music either. I tend to get distracted when I hear familiar music, especially if it has lyrics.

if(this.post == SATISFYING){money.send(1.00,&HemoGloben);return thanks;}

Art of Noise - Moments in Love...

doesn't hammer you, just jingles in the background and doesn't hinder your thoughts...

otherwise i just tune in to inet-r@dio... this is also not bad.

EDIT: or 'Robert Miles - Children Remix'. also quite but still interesting to listen. doesn't hinder you much too.

I listen to James Brown when I really need to concentrate on something in coding (or physics/math for that matter). It helps me not bash my computer in when I get really frusterated :). Some songs are better than other.... but its all good.

On a side note, I think I like James Brown because when I first started programming I just started listening to him, so mabye there is a correlation?

Lots of Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Megadeth. Sometimes even then, it's hard to stay awake at work[wink]

i go through phases of finding things to program to, at one point it was The Prodigy, others its been Feeder or Tweaker and atm its mostly Killswitch Engage or Sikth (but thats also down to me listening to it alot, hehe)

Guess it just depends on my mood at the time of coding really [grin]

I generally listen to Digitally Imported while at work, generally the Goa-Psy stream.

I can't suggest anything good for coding, but I can think of something NOT good for it - classical. I love classical, but my mind seems to wander way to much when I'm listening to it and I'll solve 50 problems entirely unrelated to my current project while making no progress on what I'm working on =-)

Classical music works for me. It's music that doesn't grab my attention like other musical styles, so it's easy to have it playing in the background.

Underworld. My iTunes "Coding Music" playlist also has some other stuff, ranging from Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit, to KMFDM's "Megalomaniac" to Mouse on Mars' "Sui Shop".

I find that songs with a singer in them somewhat distract me when I'm on a coding spree. So I usually end up listening to either some hardcore rock, fast techno, or even nothing.
