In reference to my other thread, I've been reading about how Lex and "Superman" Clark eventually become enemies and was wondering wwho Lex really is. Could anyone shed some light on that and how the adult versions of them relate to each other?

I think it's quite obvious, Lex will eventually find out about Clark's powers and try to use them to take over THE WORLD. Clark will get all holier-than-thou at him (with lots of 'omg my dad was rite about yuo') and then Lex will get all bitter about it. Then Lex will get with Lana finally and Clark will suddenly sit up and take notice.

Oh, and the most recent episode had some way too funny moments. :)

edit: Sorry, I was being crass. Fractoid beat me to it and hopefully cleared things up. Sorry.

First, sorry I haven't read you other thread so sorry if this has already been said.

You have to take Smallville with a grain of salt. Almost everything in it is not true in the comics. For examples, the first time Superman (Clark) ever really meets Lex Luthor is when he goes to Metropolis as an adult. The two did not actually grow up with each other. The same is true with Lois Lane, who is apparently Cloie's cousin (sorry for spelling and that relationship is also not true in the comics). The only people in smallville that are also in the comics (that I can remember off the top of my head) are Clark, his parent, and Lana.

With that being said, I don't think the adult versions of Lex and Clark can be evaluated because they can make up whatever they want. Smallville is a different story...kind of a tangent.

Hope that helps...

I've hardly ever watched the show, but my bet is that Lex will know of Clark's powers, and then Lex's father will be in trouble of some kind, and Clark won't be there to save him. Thus Lex will get all angry about how Clark wouldn't save his dad. Boo hoo.

Hey, if spiderman could get away with something like that, anything's possible.

That doesn't make any sense becuase Lex wanted his father behind bars/to suffer anyway.

Given that what's in the comics is not true in the comics (ie, the Superman legend is revised every now and then), and given that

From the Smallville show page on TheWB.com:
Now beginning its fourth season on The WB, this new interpretation of the enduring Superman mythology and its classic characters blends realism and adventure into an exciting action series.
It's a reinterpretation. It has nothing to do with the comics, per se. Get over it.

What's with Clark getting sick? I just saw the commercial, and a few friends mentioned that Superman would die from SARS.
[Slime] I saw a headline on the newspaper today: "Horrific Rape in Alley", or something.[Slime] I was like "Is there any other kind of rape?"[Slime] "HILARIOUS RAPE AS CLOWN SODOMIZED"

Yeah, they are trying to give superman some more depth. In most tellings Superman dosn't go through much when he was younger and you cant make a severaly year long show about nothing. Not to mention that youth is when people go through the most. In the DVDs the creators were talking about how Superman survives because he is timeless and keeps adapting. Ever hear the old phrase "Leaps tall buildings in a single bound"? Superman couldn't originaly fly. Kryptonite was made up by the radio version to cover up for the fact that Superman was being played by another actor for a few days.

Smallville has given alot of History and Humanity to the story.

BTW I was very impressed with Kristin Kreuk playing her evil ancestor a couple of weeks ago. Also with Tom playing Lex's Dad. He looked like a total pimp waling into the prison riot in slow motion.

Everyone in the series is in the comics, with the exception of Chloe and Clark's best friend from the first three seasons (whose name isn't coming to mind at the moment).
