I have been a die hard Metroid fan ever since the release of the original on nes, and so I picked up Metroid Prime 2: Echoes today and in my opinion it kicks ass. The multiplayer is a little limited; no Halo 2 (but can anything really compare to Halo 2??) I suppose it is the best it can be for metroid multiplayer. Has anyone else played it yet? One particular thing I noticed that has improved was the scanning function. It seems much easier and I like the way it appears seen and used in the game. What are your likes and dislikes about the game? The thrusters on the starship have changed a little too I noticed.
I'll probably buy that before the end of the year, but for now all my time (and game money) is in Half-Life 2 :)
How does it compare to Metroid Prime? I have that, but still haven't beaten it, party because I haven't had a Gamecube for very long, but also I just havne't been enjoying it as much as all the other Metroid games (I was one of those at the beginnig who was all like 'Oh teh noes! Not 3d!', but I've gotten over that). Don't get me wrong, Metroid Prime is a great game and I'm looking forward to Echoes, Prime just wasn't the same awesome Super was.
Speaking of which I'll probably beat Prime right after Half Life 2, thank god Thanksgiving break is next week...

I bought it, and I'm absolutely loving it. The added morph ball sections seem quite cool. I was in a big one yesterday, and I heard a powerup somewhere in it. It took my about 10 minutes to figure out how to get it. Of course, I could just be dumb, but yeah. Great game so far.
Damn, I thought you were talking about the public radio trance/ambient show that's on every Sunday night.

I'd actually never played any Metroid before Metroid Prime (gasp! horror! ;) ), and I thought MP kicked ass. It had a very Zelda: Ocarina of Time puzzle-solving feel to it. So I'll be interested to see how Echoes plays out.
