How does one program a website like Hotmail. What are the basics I need to know to be able to give users of my website an email address that is managed in the browser(like hotmail). PS: I want to use PHP and mysql. -CProgrammer

I'm not really sure, but I think you need e-mailserver software. SMTP protocol? POP3?
Or build a Hotmail like UI, with MySQL to keep record of e-mail:

id - sender - receiver - message - date

This way, you can have an in- and outbox. [wink] This would be only on your server though (Private Notes). You can make it send out real e-mails with PHP's mail().

By the way: Web Development forum?
