hi man!
yup! i faced the same problem an year ago. I dunno if it helps but you can try a utility called dxf2tri at www.cnet.com (downloads) which will convert points in 3d plane so you can directly scan and load them.

hope this helps

hi just digged this out for ya!
DXF2TRI
DXF polyline/polygon to triangle converter
by Tim Riley Aug 1993
based on
POLY2TRI - a polygon to triangle converter
by Steve Anger Jan 1993

This program is commited to the public domain. Feel free to use all or part
of this code in your own programs.

This is a utility that extracts polyline shapes from a DXF file and breaks
them down into individual triangles. The polylines are assumed to be closed,
planar (2D) polygons. This program only deals with POLYLINE entities and
ignores all other entities in the DXF file. All properties (color, line type)
are ignored.

The input DXF file consists of one or more polylines with no more than 2000
vertices. This limit is rather arbitrary and can be changed if necessary by
changing POLYMAX.

The program uses the following syntax:

DXF2TRI infile[.DXF] [outfile[.RAW]] [-e] [-b]

Hi,
I actually have two 3D model loaders on my site that I have ported to Delphi. Both open the Wavefront OBJ file format but you can use 3D Explorer (http://www.xdsoft.com/explorer/) to convert from .3ds to .obj very easily.

My site is called DelphiGL (http://members.home.com/jra101) and the model loaders are under the Downloads section.

Hope this helps,

Jason A.

I like to do every thing manually. Usually if I''m doing a car, or character, then I''ll model him in max, and texture him with one texture. Then I''ll use the unwrap modifier to make the texture coords, so the texture will line up. Then I export it to an ACE file. I''ll get rid of all the crap in word, and just leave the numbers. Then I load load the file with a simple loop. Sometimes, if the object is small, I''ll write a simple program that will convert the object to OpenGL calls, so I can directly paste it in my code.

can you send your code to me? (if not,it''s not a problem...)
