I decided recently that I want to get certified in C++/Java. I'm not sure if information on these topics is hard to come by on purpose, or what. It seems like most certifications are geared towards the hardware/networking aspect. I found a few websites who offer C++/Java certification. The tests range from 15-50$. (expertrating.com, brainbench.com, etc.). These are all online tests. You receive a paper-copy certificate if you pass. I am wondering of that validity of these certificates. Are they official, and held to some standard? Are any of these companies more reputable than others? Upon completing these tests can you then say on a resume that you are C++ certified? Also, doing a search for C++ certification on Amazon resulted in 0 applicable books. Everything seems to be geared towards .NET (MFC, blah blah blah). It's not really a question of learning C++, as I know it well, it is more an issue of how the test is actually formatted and structured. On the other hand, information on Java certification seems pretty easy to find. Any comments/suggestions appreciated. Thanks :)

The only programming certification I've seen that gets any respect would be the MCSD series from Microsoft.

For how you list it on your resume, when you get certified, they'll tell you how to list it.
