Hello I'm looking for some general documents/articles where I could find number of processor cycles that are required for specific instruction. I know that this changes from chip to chip but just want to know what instructions are 'generally' faster then others on modern cpu's. Could someone point me to some links/resources? Thanks

Look in the developer section of the intel website. There should be three documents about the instruction set, I think one of them has pipeline and clock cycle info.
