I have been playing online games (MMORPGS) for about 7 years now and have looked at various ideas and I wish to setup a team of programmers who would be interested in helping me out, I am currently working on a website for the project, the game name is going to be Oracle and its going to be set in a medieval time zone, I have some gameplans done out already for my game so if you wish to see them just ask, so far I have 1 3d modeler who is interested and working on a piece to show me what he can do and 1 programmer who says he is interested if the game will be based on a linux system, so could you specify if you use windows or linux if you reply, thanks My msn is benalderson@hotmail.com I am on pretty often and my ICQ number is 289134926, it should be pretty easy to contact me Thanks

First of all, this should be in Help Wanted. Secondly, the generic advice for those wanting to make an MMORPG (or any other MMO). This is a LOT of work. One of the hardest games to make in fact. It can be done, but it's going to require a lot of time and effort, and you're probably going to have to spend some money as well (You'll need a server, a connection for the server, any software packages your team needs, etc).

I'd advise writing up a proper design document, getting that website up and running, and getting any concept art you may have ready.

This is part one of a postmortem series being written by a forum member who has actually successfully completed an MMORPG project.

Not a problem. One more article that will probably be of at least some interest to you and your team (again, note the author has succeeded at a MMORPG project, he knows his stuff). Anyways, again I wish you good luck. [smile]
