this may not be the best place, but hell i know some of you know something about computers..( hahha more like all) anyway, i bought Planetside at Direct2drive.com i download it after i download it, i run the .exe, then when im copying the files to install, it stops at 42%. now this happend 7 times in a row, all different mirrors, i even re-formatted my harddrive. same exact error each time. so i came to the conclusion its not the file that corrupt, since my friend downloaded it an installed it, and it worked. technical help takes to long by email, so i came here. the exact error is "An I/O Error has occured while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or corrupt installation file." after i click on "Abort" it says, "Corrupt installation file!" so bad installation media obviously, what could it be! and does anyone know how to COMPLETELY turn off the integrated firewall in SP2? that may be it.

No, the firewall is not causing this, since I install many programs (self executable zips to name a few) and have no problems what so ever.

Look for shit running in the background, upgrade all your drivers, run adaware and spybot, run hijackthis, assume it's a hardware problem, replace parts: pick one.
