I just realized how many people think that the lounge is full of crap. Ok, maybe I realized that a long time ago, but now that I think of it, I noticed how great the gdnet lounge is. I don''t think you can find any higher quality comedy than the gdnet lounge. (well maybe my disgusting pics on elcow''s forum ) Because of this thought, I am now announcing the closing of my open minded anti-"crap" posting. Whatever. My point is that the lounge is much more quality than crap IMFO. --------------------------- www.bountyhunterinc.com t-shirts for the morally impaired.

Yeah, I think that Mr. Rhino does a damned good job at weeding out the bad posts and letting the silly ones slide.

Yeah programmers need a place to chill because looking at Hungarian Microsoft code will drive you nuts otherwise.

Hmm
I''ve never quite understood what you guys mean by hungarian code... (yeah I''m not as good as I make people believe )

It''s got to do with variable names AFAIK. I use names like:

ddsdBackBuffer
or
ddsurfPrimary

etc.

What would you call that (apart from "disorganized", "zany", "crap" or whatever)

It''s the kind of code Microsoft uses where you put the data type before the variable when declaring the variables.

Like,

BOOL *bData; //boolean value that starts w/ a lower-case b

There''s a bunch of rules like that for naming. Different lower-case letters for different data types

*sigh of relief* wow! For a minute, when reading the topic, I thought Nes8Bit was gonna talk about how much he loves Visual Basic ... phew

Nazrix : yes, hungarian notation is a Microsoft joke to designate the notation of variable names were the first letters are used to tell what type is the variable. Useful, but unreadable for the uninitiated.
it''s probably an engineer joke ...

Set yourself on fire. Its going to happen anyway - you may as well enjoy it.

I wish the Nazrixians no harm. I would, however, like a Nazrixian escort to my car.

Anyway, as I was saying, VB is faster than C++ (VB being on the p3 550 and C++ being on the 486) because of it''s native compiler.
