Problem with Pbuffer...

Hi! I’ve wrote some program, which renders to Pbuffer and its works perfectly on SUN Solaris and on Windows as well, via X Server of Exceed. The problem appears when I try to run it on SGI Irix: it creates only small buffers, 300x300 for example, but when I try to create bigger one (500x500) - it fails, with following error: Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) Major opcode at failed request: 146 (GLX)Minor opcode of failed request: 27 (X_GLXCreatePbuffer} Serial number of failed request: 16 Current serial number in output stream 17 I need even bigger buffers, about 1000x1000 and 1600x1600 as a max limit. The problem seems to be with offscreen video memory size definition of their X Server, but I don't know how to change it and I'm not sure if it is really a source of the problem. May be someone had such a problem or just know what it may be and what I can do??? Thanking in anticipation.

Sounds bad... Any way, I need offscreen rendering with up to 1600x1600 drawing area (1000x1000 at least). If not Pbuffers, then Pixmaps? Or it will fall in the same manner? Using windows can't be a proper solution, due to problems with minimize, lock screen and pixel ownership test. So what can I do? I can't believe, what SGI has limited Pbuffers to 300x300. I think, there should be some way to resolve it.

if pixmaps will work depends on the X implementation. if it is taken from system memory it is slower but will not fail to allocate. if it is taken from video memory you end up with the same problem as before.

The Pbuffer is single buffer from the beginning, as it is meaningless to create double buffer for offscreen. But searching through the web give some results:
As I understood, the problem may be in FBConfig, which return configuration with many unneeded stuff, selected by default (accumulation buffer and etc.). So I should pass through all FBConfig array, returned by glXChooseFBconfig, and find less garbage-full one. I gona try it and hope it will work.

2RPTD:
As I understand, the problem is not a use of video or system memory, but use of "offscreen dedicated" video memory, which is too small some how.
I didn't used Pixmaps, because they appear to be more complex resource, than a Pbuffer, but it is X Server resource (not GLX like Pbuffers), so may be it works differently. I will try Pixmap if Pbuffer will not work finally.

Checked all 8 configurations, returned by glXChooseFBConfig(), with a Pbuffer, but none worked. So currently the problem remains "as is"... (or "as was")
