Hi.

Of course it's possible. But the other question is if this kind of interface is really user friendly. What would be the advantages of such an interface in your opinion?

When I use 3dsmax, I typically reconfigure it to a single viewport.

To switch between perspective, left, front and top mode, I use the hot keys (p, l, f and t, curiously enough :-). I leaned this from some artists at work, and I find it's easier to work with than the traditional 4-way split.

One viewport is easy for the programer, but 4 viewports in win32 api and using window spliter like 3ds max. It's hard... but nice. Now how can i do this.

4 viewports like 3dmax is not really that much harder than 1 at all,
just draw the scene 4 times specifying different viewports each time into a main window

Well it you were really using a single view point if you were switching between then.

I use maya and it has the usual 4 viewports. When modelling items with reference imagiry you really need to have all the views. It give you a good perspective for depth and size of the model.

Just got to have them. Someone said that you can use hot keys in 3Dmax to full screen between each view, there is a similar setup in maya, you have hotkeys but you can also press a spacebar and return to the 4 viewports mode then drag the mouse over to one of the viewports and click spacebar again and you go into the fullscreen mode of that selected view. I find it highly useful.
