[RANT] Upon googling for "minimal j2ee tutorial" the first page I found was: stole the words right from my mouth. Yesterday I found a cool website that offers free jsp hosting, and java servlet hosting. Although I'm not really sure about the servlet part because I'm a professed newbie at this. So, in an attempt to lead myself out of ignorance I stopped by java.sun to "scan" a tutorial. Lo and behold I found a monster!~ Yes, an actual monster. Well actually it was a tutorial, but I would've preffered a monster after yesterday! *shudders* Anyway, the j2ee tutorial offered by sun is enormous and full of bugs (AFAIK, however, I can't get a thing to work so it could be my cursory installation). I jumped right to how to compile and run servlets (it's the beginning of the servlet tutorial) and found a bunch of examples, for which you need the java web services pack, and the package of tutorials... Wait, that's not all! There's the whole j2ee tutorial, the j2ee sdk (as opposed to j2se), the Apache-Ant(!!!), a defibrillator, and a circus of elephantia. So right now I'm in the middle of cleaning my brains out of my keyboard, and wodering with despair if I'll ever get to learn how to use j2ee and make servlet and run it :( The good news is the site (one of many) that gives free java hosting (www.myjavaserver.com, if you're interested), gives free disk space (about 5 MB (?)), so I do have some image hosting space :) [/RANT] edit: debugged corrected spelling in my post.
