Hey guys, Just finished one of the major builds of a game I've been working on for a few months. I would like if you could test it out and give me some feedback and name ideas for the game(3D Puzzle just isn't too appealing -_-). Also, I'm looking for comments on the balance of the special blocks, difficulty ramp, ideas for new special blocks, and the overall game presentation itself. It doesn't use any extensions besides multitexture so it should run on almost every card. No linux build yet, though there's no reason it shouldnt compile on linux. Anyways you can check out the current build at: [game updated, new link here] Thanks for your time. -Amitt 'Chronos' Mahajan [Edited by - Chronos- on January 15, 2005 3:50:41 AM]

Holy Shit! Thats incredible. It runs a little sluggish on my laptop, but I like it. Incredible game play, wonderful graphics, simply a blast to play.

++ That rocks.

I agree cool, fun, game. I liked the stream showing the color of the "piece" so I didn't have to look down. Level transitions looks great too. This going to be open source? I'd like to take a looky.

Holy crap, awesome. I love the gameplay, the graphics, the GUI and console, pretty much all of it :). Excellent work!

Daniel, your graphics card doesn't support multitexturing. The programmer will have to provide fallback for you, else you can't play.

Look closer - its getting a GDI software renderer, not an inadaquate graphics card. That probably means he needs to install some proper graphics card drivers with OpenGL support.

Looks pretty nifty, but it requires me to change my desktop depth to 32bit. You might want to add an option to work with other depths too.

I've just tried this on my work PC (which doesn't have Visual Studio on it) and it can't find msvcr71.dll. Gutted as given all the great feedback I wanted to have a go!

That is one problem I do notice with VC projects, you always have to add like 3-4 .dlls! Maybe there is a way to get past that...

Hey guys thanks for the aboslutely fantastic feedback. It made going through all the work for this game worth it.

In response to Daniel Miller's post,
Another poster pointed this out, it seems that you do not have a 3D card or the proper drivers installed for your video card. Most cards are able to handle arb_multi_texture these days so if you do have a video card I would check with your manufacturer's website for the latest drivers.

In response to stubble's post,
If you do a google search for that DLL file you can get a copy pretty easily. It is a fairly common runtime as all programs made with visual studio .net use it.

I don't think I'm going to open source the game because it uses my base engine which is basically my life's work so far. The game code is written in LUA and is in plain text format in the data/scripts dir if you wanna see. If anyone has any questions on how I did anything in the game, feel free to ask.

There's also a built in level editor that can be accessed by bringing down the console (~) and typing /editor_show It's pretty basic. Saving and loading files is done through console commands, its mostly a way of placing tiles easily.

A little help:

Great game! The game is addictive just as it should be in a good game...

But you really should come up with a different name soon, because to me (and probaly many others) puzzles are boring.
Only the reviews convinced me to download it, which I haven't regret btw ;).

Hmm you seem to have implemented some kind of subliminal message in the multitextured background, because I loved the game! ;P

Will you make a port for handhelds/mobiles? Because you should :D GBA would be cool too!

Highscore: 34605, Level: 11
Not to shabby for my first try

In what did you make this? C++? Did you use any libraries?

You added keyboard support for playing, which I liked. But you couldn't press "OK" on transitions etc with the enter or space key :(

Overall, very nice!! rating++!

Well, if you look in the folder, you should get a feeling of what he is using... SDL, OpenAL (also OpenGL?) together with ogg vorbis.

Heh yeah, saw that. But I was wondering if he used something like OGRE or Dark SDK or something more game framework oriented :)
