Hi, I have been programming my college projects with DirectX. Now, I need to simulate/run some college project in Linux + OpenGL. Since I don't have much experience in OpenGL, I would be grateful for some informations: - What Linux version do you recommend? - What compiler C++? - What model format do you recomend to store meshes (and skinned meshes), mapping and animation data? Thanks in advance

I don't believe your choice of Linux distribution or compiler (provided you're using something recent) will improve or hinder your usage of OpenGL. All I can suggest is that you obtain the latest version of GCC, and if you're new to Linux, stick to a "user-friendly" distribution like Mandrake, Fedora or SUSE. It's also likely you'll need to install graphics drivers yourself afterwards, so keep that in mind.

As for model formats, I'll leave that for someone else.
