Hi, I'm going to study Maths in two years in university despite how I want to become a computer games programmer, so for experience I've decided that I will start programming some maths applications. Could somebody give me ideas on what type of programs will test my maths skills or a link to a list of progressional tasks, if that makes sense. Thanks in Advance TomX

Despite?? Doing a course in maths is one of the best moves you can make as long as you teach yourself the programming aspect. Anywho, for games related type maths stuff you want to consentrate on the following sorts of things:

Matricies and vectors including things like rotation
Equation matrix solving methods (eg Gauss Elimination, Gauss Seidel)
Numerical techniques for solving differential equations (both first and second order)

In my experience these are the most useful things to know. But then again I specialise in the physics side of games programming. This should get you started anyways. Good luck

Once you get along well with all that maths Motorherp mentioned, you'll see that learning some graphics API (thus, visualizing your skills) is really straight-forward. In fact, the greatest problem behind graphics programming is having too little knowledge about mathematics and physics (IMHO, of course). :)

Merry Christmas!

Oh and I forgot one of the biggies.....learn geometry.....as much as you can handle.
