What do you guys think of Digipen for a computer engineering education? To me it doesn't seem as good as a degree from a normal college. I expect the stuff they teach you would be too narrowly focused to games. With a regular school, I'd get a broader understanding of the material and since I'd be working on game programming outside of school, I'd be able to apply it to games anyway. If anyone knows anything about the Digipen here in Seattle that would be a plus.

In my opinion it would be better to go to a general college or univerity that specializes computer engineering, than digipen, because it is more directed to toward game developement.

View the thread directly beneath this one for my thoughts on the matter of "game schools".

What both of you said. If you want to learn about everything that has happened in game development up to this point, then Digipen's probably quite good... but if you want to learn about everything else, including the things that may arise as the new core technologies in future console generations, then a generalised Comp Sci / SWEng degree from another school is probably a better choice.

(Bear in mind, though, I'm a Brit who knows little about how the US school system works).
