Skinned Meshes Tutorial Complete

Original Post
Okay, guys. The tutorial is now done. It's for people who have trouble understanding the DXSDK samples or any other docs. It is NOT a tutorial on the implementation. That's the easy part. It's a tutorial on the theory and the math and things. I tried to make it as easy as possible. So check it out: Skinned Mesh Tutorial [Edited by - fproto on December 27, 2004 4:36:36 PM]
Wow, this is so much better than your first post/diagram [smile]. You should try implementing your own file format and animation interfaces sometime - you would learn TONS more (more about the implementation and practical side, since you already know all about the theory).
Very nice gift to the community. Rate++.
And I agree with circlesoft, .X is too much ideas stuffed into a pile of crap. What seems to be easy, they complicated it way too much. By creating your own format, you can put all necessary information in the file, in this case, skinned mesh information.
By the way, there's a mistake here: http://www.qesthetics.com/fproto/images/skinned%20mesh%20tutorial%203.jpg
Note the text.
Ha ha! [lol] A Matrix joke, a nice one though. [wink]

I'm glad to hear that my tutorial has been helpful.
Well, I don't know the first thing about creating my own format.
I'm a BIG newbie to game programming, lol.
Maybe a little advice circlesoft? :)
Check out my DirectMesh projects here. DM v1.0 is already complete, but it's a keyframed format. You can check out the specification to DM v2.0 here (it isn't finished yet). It's a *really* in-depth guide to the format, interfaces, ect... and goes over how everything will be implemented. Basically, I wrote the documentation to it before I coded it (which is great, because now coding won't be as hard [smile]).

I don't see the error anywhere though...
Yea, me neither...
