Basically, having quit work last month to go back to college, I now have a lot of free time on my hands... free time I would like to spend constructively on programming a game or two.
My aim here is to finish a project, not just start one. I would like to have something to show potential employers by the time I finish college on top of any work I do while there.
I''ll consider almost anything, from 3d first-person shooters to soccer management, from puzzle games to real time strategy. My primary skill is C++ programming, secondary is writing music, with game design and graphics being other areas I might be useful in.
However, there are criteria:
I''m not interested in projects run by newbies, clueless or not, as I have no interest in doing all the work for an ''Idea Guy'' (you know who you are) or trying to deal with programmers who don''t know their stuff. As for my own level of competence, those who don''t remember me from a few months back can do a quick search on my name in the General Programming or Game Design forums. This will turn up some of the few hundred messages I''ve posted here, which should show that I''m not a total moron.
And I''m not interested in overambitious projects that have a minimal chance of being finished (*cough* MMORPGS *cough*). There seems to be a high correlation between this category and the one above. I only want to start on something that I think can be completed, -before- everyone loses interest, which means that overly long estimated development times would discourage me.
I would prefer to work in C++ rather than C as I work in a mainly object-oriented style. I could be flexible on this, however.
And I don''t mind if it''s a free, royalties or salaried position (yeah, right
)... all will be considered on their merits.
So, if anyone is still interested, mail me at: gamedev@kylotan.eidosnet.co.uk with details of what you are doing, and I''ll try and get back to you.
