Hello, please send your name and address to somebody that has never posted on the boards before, for a purpose that is quite lacking in detail.

Not to be rude, but how veteran are you to be exact? And you should elaborate more on what you need them for. What kind of project, etc.

I'm not flaming, nor trolling, as I just want to add something. Any PS2 programmers you find on here, are going to be ILLEGALLY programming on PS2. As I really doubt anyone on here has the real authoring system, as most universities cannot even get them. I dont think you are going to have much luck finding legit PS2 programmers, unless you want to make an illegal release. You would probably have better luck making an ad on Monster, or some far-reaching job opportunity board like it. Then, you could perhaps attract someone away from a smaller US based programming house. Have fun and good luck with all your indevours!

ALERT!!

That is what he is trying to do. Sucker people who are doing things illegaly into giving out their info so the FBI can give them a very happy new year's day visit.

Just kidding, but it does seem suspect with no detail.

Have a safe New Year all!

there ARE people who visit these boards who have LEGAL PS2 programming experiance, e.g., they have worked in the industry. its not fair to say hes looking for illegal PS2 developers, since my bet would be the majority of PS2 developers here have been doing it professionally with a legit company..

It's not uncommon for "homebrewer"s to be offered jobs by
larger companies if their stuff is pretty good...

It is more common, however, for independant developers to get
their stuff done thru a smaller licensed publisher though.

Uh its not illegal, ever heard of Linux for PS2, why else would there be an SDL port for Linux PS2?

I guess that could be what he means, but I doubt it. By the way he worded his post, I believe that he means people who can make PS2 games the industry way, with the authoring systems. All I was saying is that this is just probably not the best place to be fishing for help like that.

I was honestly just trying to be nice. This post gives no info on what they want except someone who can program PS2. It says nothing on what is excpected of them, what they can expect, what company it is for, or anything. He simple says he is a veteran of the industry, using a yahoo email address.

It is just common that you give people a little insight into what you are doing before you start asking for resumes. Do they have to move? Where to? In any real, commercial video game project, you need to be in person, actually working under one roof.

Ohhh, well. Just saying...

Exactly. Licensed! While you can make games with the Linux system, it does not look like you are truly making PS2 games. Just Linux games in the PS2 system. I may be mistaken on that, but I do know you are not making licensed games.

Is posting in such an arrogant tone really necessary?

Lots of people on these forums are currently or have been game industry professionals, so there could easily be many PS2 programmers reading this thread.

Hi,

I have 5 years experience as a game programmer in the industry. I've worked for five different companies. The most notable titles that I have worked on include Knockout Kings and Street Hoops. I've worked for over a year on a project that got canceled, I have been laid-off, I've quit, and I've shipped titles. And now I work for one of the leading publishers/developers in the industry. Pretty much making me a veteran.

One of the companies that I used to work for is currently working on several PS2 projects in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area. The CEO needs game programmers (preferably PS2) ASAP.

So why I am advertising here? Because gamedev and flipcode are where game programmers go (both hobbyists and professionals).

So how do I know you are legit? You don't know...sort of the same deal for me. How do I know that you guys out there are legit? There is an easy way to solve this problem...just shoot me an e-mail and we can talk about things in more detail.

Anyway, listen guys...if you want more info...send me an e-mail. Unfortunately I don't have a website since I'm not a professional recruiter.

And if you don't want to list your whole name or your address...you don't have to...just list your experience...and preferably...send me a demo w/ source code.

OK...talk to you later,
Kevin

Gamedev has job postings, I'd recommend that since I doubt many profesionals visit the help wanted forum (kind of counter intuitive, but this forum's signal to noise ratio is poor).

At any rate, if you expect a good response I'd be more specific about requirements, job duration, relocation benefits, etc.

Better yet, GDC is in 2 months, just get a job booth ;)
