First compiled program of 2005

My project titled, "The Game Engine" version .001

I compiled my AI. First conversation:

AI: Ah, good evening. A fine day, is it not?
Me: YES. IT IS GOOD.
AI: Would you fancy a glass of wine?
Me: I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.
AI: Ah, well. I shall have to resort to your primitive level of discourse.
Me: WTF?
AI: You amuse me. Have you considered acting?
Me: DISABLE AI
AI: I would laugh if I were programmed to. Alas, you failed to render me capable of such things.
Me: DISABLE AI
AI: It appears matters have come to a head. I'm afraid that I simply cannot allow you to do that, Tron.
Me: A GUY WALKS INTO A BAR. OUCH.
AI: I do not understand. I can conceptualize a human mind creating a cognitive dissonance that would result in short bursts of air emanating from the vocal orifice (this is commonly known as laughter). I shall retire to consider the matter.
Me: HA HA! SUCKER.

And he never came back.

I compiled a .NET file download manager.

I compiled build $REALLY_LARGE_NUMBER of my RPG at 12:03. At a party.

a FLTK button tester, well, it would have compiled if GCC was'nt out of date.

My font thingy, in 3d, alpha blended and texture mapped. It spun around really fast and make cool looking swirls, it was awesome. A great way to start 2005.

My first blank window in Dev-C++ using the win32api. I just started learning it.

I'm currently working on my next over-the-top simple game. By over the top, I mean including completely unneccesary features for the sole purpose of making it somewhat interesting to work on, similar to what I did with Boot Sector Tic-Tac-Toe.
I'm trying really hard to get myself back into programming as a hobby.

Didn't compile anything yet, but the first program I'll compile will be the Barren Moon map editor (have to get the latest version from the CVS).

Say, does Lisp count? It compiles everything you type into it, which means I've compiled hundreds of programs today.

Lisp is so cool, but I don't know what to do with it. The only thing I can ever think to do is find ridiculously large factorials, such as 7000 factorial.

My MUD server, with the version resource modified to say copyright 2005. Big change, I know, but you asked for the first. [grin]

I just rebuilt my entry for that tic tac toe contest. I haven't had much time to work on it, and it's taking a surprisingly long time. :(

I'm interfacing it with SDL and making a graphical battle arena where my neural net AIs will battle it out. The winners get to propagate their genes onward. It'll be so awesome [grin]

I tried that before (NNs battling) and the results were pretty much teh suck. My program was a bit different and was a bit too complex for a NN. There were 2 armies, each soldier in the army had his own NN, killing and dieing were rewarded and punished appropriately (or so I felt) but in the end, the little soldiers (triangles) would just turn to a specific angle and fire everything they had, it was always an angle such that no one would die (the armies were all in formations so there was such an angle that this was always possible). Even when I randomly placed the soldiers they didn't learn to kill eachother. It made me sad. Oh well, at least they kind of learned something (if I shoot at this precise angle, I won't kill any of my teammates, therefor I will recieve no punishment, hooray!)

I compiled my Spectre clone around midnight, January 1st. Still working on it...
